DESCRIPTION
The Leonard Lief Library is seeking two Interns for the Fall 2012 semester in its Technical Services Department [hours are flexible, but Department is not open nights and weekends].
Interns will work on projects in areas of cataloging and serials management, including copy cataloging using OCLC, original cataloging under supervision of catalogers, processing materials in local online catalog, and assistance with management of electronic journals. In addition, Interns may also observe Information Literacy classes taught by library faculty, Reference Desk activities, and related library functions.
This is a great opportunity for flexible, creative library school students to gain practical experience in a dynamic, urban academic library.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required: Enrollment in a credit Internship course in a Master’s program at an accredited library school.
Preferred: Completion of courses or experience in cataloging, knowledge of LC classification system, familiarity with bibliographic sources and electronic resources. Strong computer skills necessary.
