JustPublics@365 seeks a full-time Project Manager. JustPublics@365 forges partnerships among academics, media outlets, and social justice activists; trains academics to use digital tools; creates open discussions and knowledge streams; and reimagines understanding of the impact of scholarly work. JustPublics@365 is a model for public higher education to engage with 21st century change. JustPublics@365, originally seated at the Graduate Center CUNY, expands now to other CUNY campuses. This position will be based at the CUNY School of Public Health (Silberman Campus). It will involve collaboration with the CUNY School of Journalism and other campuses as the project grows. The Project Manager will serve as the main administrative coordinator for the project’s many parallel efforts, assembling statistics and other measurements, creating reports and presentations, and supporting all activities in close collaboration with Co-PIs.
Key Qualifications:
- Progress toward PhD in any field; interest in the mission of higher education
- Broad knowledge about applications of digital media
- Excellent digital media production skills (e.g., audio, video, app development, e-book production)
- Demonstrated excellence in project management, including budgeting and financial management
- Excellent written communication skills
The Project Manager will:
- Oversee MediaCamp Workshops both at the CUNY J-School and at American Sociological Association Meetings (August, 2014, San Francisco)
- Connect Scholars to Policy Makers, in partnership with Scholar Strategy Network (SSN) (http://www.scholarsstrategynetwork.org/)
- Produce a podcast deries, highlighting the work of CUNY SPH faculty
- Produce a series of open, online courses in social justice & public health in partnership with TechChange (www.techchange.org)
- Coordinate mobile app development with a focus on East Harlem social justice & health, in partnership with community members in and from East Harlem
- Consult with faculty about technology, pedagogy and research, developing plans based on faculty needs and input. Supervise staff working with faculty to learn and apply various technologies
- Develop innovative content for the JustPublics@365 social media accounts, including regular blog, Twitter, Facebook; and regular email updates (using Constant Contact or similar)
- Supervise part-time staff
