spsThe School of Professional Studies of the City University of New York (CUNY SPS) has launched fifteen degrees: nine bachelor’s degrees open to students with 24 or more college credits who wish to complete their undergraduate studies, and six master’s degrees, with more programs currently in development. CUNY SPS leads the University in developing and operating online degree programs, and trains faculty throughout CUNY in online instruction.

CUNY SPS is also the home of the Joseph S. Murphy Institute for Worker Education and Labor Studies, a collaboration between the University and New York City labor unions, for the purpose of serving the educational, policy and research needs of unions and their members. The Institute is comprised of two centers. The mission of the Center for Worker Education is to: 1) offer undergraduate and graduate programs to working adult students and union members, 2) expand access to colleges throughout the CUNY system, and 3) partner with labor unions and employers to address training and education needs of union members. The Center for Labor, Community, and Policy Studies conducts research, offers leadership development programs, hosts forums and national conferences, publishes articles, books and a national labor journal to promote debate on issues critical to labor’s future and its policy role.

Reporting to the Associate Director for Administration or his/her designee, the Database Assistant will:

  • Assist with the design and administration of databases to support enrollment management, retention management and Institution-wide outreach, including the design of complex reports.
  • Assist with identifying and assessing, and reporting on, potential problems and recommending appropriate solutions with regard to our database systems.
  • Assist with the preparation and delivery of reports concerning overall plans and activities on assigned projects.
  • Assist in determining training requirements; assist with staff training as needed.

Hourly Rate: Non-teaching adjunct rate/commensurate with experience and qualifications.
