The Gottesman Libraries at Teachers College offer an expanding array of traditional and innovative services to the college community of educators. The library is increasingly a creative services organization that coordinates the acquisition and/or design, development, and distribution of intellectual properties, including video and audio media, digital and online materials, software applications and tools, and interactive exhibits and events, along with sophisticated support services.
The Gottesman Libraries seek an individual to supervise the library administration office to ensure the efficient operation of basic office functions in support of the fast-paced library program. The Library Office Supervisor will be expected to maintain basic business systems and provide leadership in the introduction of new systems and technologies to enhance efficiency and improve overall operations.
Responsibilities for this position include:
- Serving as the main contact with other offices of the college
- Providing basic office support functions for the director and associate directors of the library
- Providing capacities to support the work of all units of the library
- Processing of appointments, time-sheets, and other Human Resources matters
- Monitoring the budgets of the library and affiliated projects

- Outstanding communication and collaboration skills
- Background of educational and work experiences that represent the major office functions and processes
- Demonstrated expertise in new technologies and systems
- Demonstrated problem solving skills
- Demonstrated capacity to support front-line staff in a fast-paced service environment
- Supervisory and team building experience
The following qualifications are strongly desired in any candidate:
- Proven ability to analyze current and emerging office needs
- Experience with modern office technologies and software and the capacity to learn new programs quickly
- Ability to articulate an interest in the education sector and a vision for new technologies and materials to advance learning
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience identifying new technologies to enhance operational efficiency and implementing them to achieve improved performance
- An academic or professional background in information science, library science, education, or related disciplines
