Internship – Digital Assets Management – Metropolitan Museum of Art

The Digital Asset Management Group/Department of Digital Media (formerly The Image Library) of the Metropolitan Museum of Art is looking for current college seniors and graduate students who are interested in applying for an unpaid internship for the spring 2013 semester.  Under the supervision of professional staff, interns will gain first-hand experience by participating in regular departmental activities that range from research and special projects to cataloguing digital content related to the museum.

The Digital Asset Management Group of the Department of Digital Media is responsible for the oversight and management of all digital assets in the Museum’s digital asset management system, establishing metadata requirements for cataloguing of relevant digital assets within the DAM, streamlining the deployment of digital assets from the DAM to the CMS, overseeing the application customization and integration with other systems.

We are a very busy department and can offer a variety of work for anyone intrigued by an alternative library experience.

The spring Internship will be from January-May. Standard internship requirements would be a minimum of at least one full day (7 hours) per week during business hours. The department is only open Monday-Friday, 9:00-5:00 and closed on the weekends.

Interns will be eligible for employee discounts at the Museum’s public restaurant, Membership Dining Room, the Museum’s retail stores, and free admission to all other New York City museums.

If interested in applying, the deadline is November 16, 2012. All materials should be compiled by the applicant, mailed together and include the following:
•       Resume and Cover Letter
•       Proposed begin and end dates of internship

APPLICANTS SHOULD SUBMIT MATERIALS TO:  stephanie.post@metmuseum.org (I regret I cannot answer any general inquiries about the internship at this time.)

If you have received this email in error please let me know of any staffing changes so I can update my files. If necessary, I would greatly appreciate your passing along the information of the proper person to whom this email should be addressed.

Thanks so much for your time and consideration,
Hope you are having a good semester,
Stephanie Post
