Brooklyn Public Library is currently seeking part time Interns to join the staff of the Shelby White & Leon Levy Information Commons, an innovative new space in public libraries that includes a training lab, public meeting rooms (including a recording studio), and a workspace with advanced design and editing iMac workstations. The interns will have the opportunity to develop and offer courses in the Commons’ high-tech classroom and offer reference and technology assistance in the workspace area. The interns will work with the Information Commons staff on special projects that reflect the intern’s skills and interests, including producing videos, developing web content, and planning special programming.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Facilitating classes in our new, high-tech training lab
Class preparation (i.e., classroom setup and shutdown)
Providing assistance at the Information desk including roving reference shifts
Project work in collaboration with the Information Commons staff
Qualifications:
The Information Commons Interns should be a student currently enrolled in an MLS program, or a recent MLS graduate.
Teaching and instructional experience preferred
Design and multimedia software training, and web development skills a plus.
Salary: Stipend in four monthly disbursements. Work schedule 12 hours a week for 15 weeks,
