Elementary School Library Internship – McKinley Library – Serving PS 63 & PS 363

The McKinley Library serves P.S. 63 (The William McKinley School) and P.S. 363 (The Neighborhood School) in New York City.

I would like to offer our library as a site for SLM student teaching for the Spring 2014 semester.  Our dynamic library serves two PreK-5 schools in the same building (a shared library).  I am a NYS certified library media specialist with ten years experience.

The focus will be co-planning library curricula and teaching grades PreK-5 in tandem with NYC’s Information Fluency Continuum, and assisting with programming special events to reach out to families.  One of the projects I am developing in the library is a maker-space with library “centers.”

This is a great opportunity for a “self-starter” to develop ideas in a creative environment.
