LIS graduate students are invited to apply for an internship with the Health Sciences Library of Queens Hospital Center.
The Library provides professional service to a diverse, multidisciplinary staff, with access to a wide collection of medical texts, journals, electronic databases/reference sources and audiovisuals.
Working with the Library’s Director & Assistant Director, interns will have the opportunity to take part in daily Library operations and work on ongoing short-term and long-term projects. Students will participate in a field experience designed to enhance their graduate course work, which may include, but is not limited to:
-Providing reference services to hospital staff utilizing print and electronic resources;
-Involvement in collection development, including assessment and weeding of serial and monograph holdings;
-Developing materials to support reference services, as well as to promote evidence based medicine/evidence based practice;
**Please note that this internship is unpaid (completed for experience and/or academic credit) and may only take place during the Library’s Hours of Operation: Monday-Friday, 9 AM-5 PM.**
This is a great opportunity for those interested in medical/health sciences librarianship!
We are conveniently located about 1.5 miles from Queens College on the Q25 & Q34 bus lines.
