- Digital Operations Production Assistant (Early Shift) - Comedy Central Programming and Multi-Platform Strategy
JOB DESCRIPTION: The Digital Operations Production Assistant for Comedy Central Programming and Multi-Platform Strategy will work the Graveyard Shift, from 3AM to 10AM, Monday through Thursday (candidate must be prepared to stay later as necessary.) The schedule shadows the production schedule of The Daily Show and The Colbert Report. When those shows are not on the air, the Content Operations Assistant is off as well. The Digital Operations Production Assistant provides nightly Quality Assurance (QA) testing for all run of site media (i.e. display media, video, rich media, etc.) as well as custom sponsorship executions on comedycentral.com and related vertical properties. This role also supports and assists the Content & Programming Department with nightly production tasks required for the upkeep and maintenance of the www.dailyshow.com and www.colbertnation.com websites each night after new episodes have aired. RESPONSIBILITIES: ● Assist the Operations Team and external departments (i.e. Sales, Traffic, AdOps) with testing new executions of existing products for approval and launch on specified locations. (i.e. Standard Video Walls, Video Player Pushdowns, OPAs, Point of Entry Interstitials and Skyscrapers) when necessary. ● Assist the Digital Operations Managers with regression testing on all active campaigns to confirm all required elements of an active campaign are present and functional. This includes making sure there are no broken images, broken links, etc. ● Conduct nightly QA rounds throughout comedycentral.com and related vertical properties to ensure there are no "bad ads" in rotation and report all bad ads to Traffic/Sales. ● Conduct nightly QA rounds throughout comedycentral.com and related vertical properties to ensure there are no competitive ads running on the same page (i.e. there shouldn't be a Verizon ad and an AT&T ad on the same page) ● Conduct nightly QA rounds throughout comedycentral.com and related vertical properties to ensure ads are not breaking the site functionality (i.e. floating navigation should not be covered by an ad) ● Conduct nightly QA rounds throughout comedycentral.com and related vertical properties on mobile and tablet devices ● Conduct nightly QA rounds throughout thedailyshow.com and colbertnation.com to ensure daily video clips and full episodes are playing correctly, with appropriate closed captioning, metadata and tags ● Assist with research efforts of various online and print trade publications to gather information on approaches and creative trends used to integrate sponsorship elements. ● On occasion, act as back up for C&P nightly production assistant on the dailyshow.com and colbertnation.com websites by performing the following tasks: - Production of web pages and web content - Update content nightly after new episodes have aired - Create/update data records, content items and promotional touts in our content management system - Publish necessary assets, including video, images and data content records to update sites REQUIREMENTS: ● Dependability and commitment to schedule is an absolute must ● Professional website production experience required ● Outstanding and careful attention to detail ● Strong organizational skills ● Able to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously ● Excellent written and verbal communication skills ● Capable at problem solving ● Great time management skills ● Ability to take initiative and work independently ● Experience managing online projects ● Experience producing graphics for the web ● Working knowledge of HTML, XML, Flash, other web technologies and content management systems ALSO PREFERRED: ● Knowledge of entertainment industry ● Knowledge of Photoshop, ImageReady, additional database development and web production skills, a plus ● Knowledge of video and audio encoding programs such as Final Cut Pro, a plus ● Knowledge of Microsoft Project and Visio, a plus ● Previous experience managing ad sales / sponsorship driven projects, a plus About Our Company: Available on-air, online and on-the-go, COMEDY CENTRAL (www.cc.com) is the #1 brand in comedy and is owned by, and is a registered trademark of, Comedy Partners, a wholly-owned unit of Viacom Inc. - Internship - Digital Asset Management - Metropolitan Museum of Art
The Digital Asset Management Group/Department of Digital Media of the Metropolitan Museum of Art is looking for current college seniors and graduate students who are interested in applying for an unpaid internship during the summer 2013 semester. Under the supervision of professional staff, interns will gain first-hand experience by participating in regular departmental activities that range from research and special projects to cataloguing digital content related to the museum. The Digital Asset Management Group of the Department of Digital Media is responsible for the oversight and management of all digital assets in the Museum’s digital asset management system, establishing metadata requirements for cataloguing of relevant digital assets within the DAM, streamlining the deployment of digital assets from the DAM to the CMS, overseeing the application customization and integration with other systems. We are a very busy department and can offer a variety of work for anyone intrigued by an alternative library experience. The summer Internship will be from June-August. Standard internship requirements would be a minimum of at least two full days (14 hours) per week during business hours. The department is only open Monday-Friday, 9:00-5:00 and closed on the weekends. Interns will be eligible for employee discounts at the Museum’s public restaurant, Membership Dining Room, the Museum’s retail stores, and free admission to all other New York City museums. Hours are flexible. Successful candidates will be nearing completion of their degree or recent graduates. The New York City Transit Museum Archives seeks three unpaid archive interns for the 2013 Winter Semester. The New York Transit Museum Archives is the official repository for New York City Transit Authority administrative records of enduring historical value; historical documents are also acquired from outside sources. The New York Transit Museum Archives collects historical documents and works of art on paper relating to New York City mass transit from the mid-nineteenth century to the present. These records and documents include photographs, moving image materials, maps, posters, engineering drawings, books and serial publications, reports, proposals, records of legal proceedings, correspondence, and other materials. The archives preserves and catalogs these materials and makes them available to researchers from the public, from the New York Transit Museum, and from within the NYCTA and other Metropolitan Transportation Authority agencies. The archives provide reference services by telephone and mail, conducts research, supports all Museum staff functions (exhibitions, programs, development, retail operations, outreach) and initiates publications that provide historical information to the public. Primary job responsibilities Assist in the processing of incoming collections of historical records including maps, posters, photographs and the inventory of library materials; catalog collection and series level records for incoming donations in the archives PastPerfect Collection Management database; create paper based collection descriptions and finding aids for record series’ in the archive; scan images for image management database. Qualifications and experience Students in archives management, library and information science, records management, museum studies, conservation/preservation administration, history, photography, urban studies, historic preservation, and engineering programs who have had coursework or experience in archives management, cataloging and classification, preservation administration, indexing and abstracting and/or historical research methods are encouraged to apply. - Library Cataloging Internships at Mohonk Preserve
Qualifications:Interns will gain valuable experience cataloging a library established in the 19th century. The majority of the collection is from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Mohonk Preserve is one of America’s largest and most historic private, non-profit nature preserves. For nearly 50 years the Mohonk Preserve has been protecting over 7,000 acres of the Northern Shawangunk Mountains in Ulster County, New York. The Mohonk Preserve’s Daniel Smiley Research Center, located on the grounds of the Mohonk Mountain House holds over 7,000 volumes in its natural history special collections library.
- Course work in original and copy cataloging required. Experience in original and copy cataloging preferred.
- Proficiency using computers, internet, and MS Office Suite required.
- Comfortable learning and using new technology.
- Familiarity with Koha and PastPerfect cataloging software a plus.
- Working both as a team and independently, the ability to take direction, and willingness to ask questions is important.
- Strict adherence to collection management policies required.
- Background checks will be required of top applicants.
Duties:
- Create bibliographic entries for natural history special collections library using Koha (web-based integrated library system) and PastPerfect (collection management software).
- Assess materials for future conservation needs, and prioritize for digitization.
Duration: 4 weeks during winter break (mid-Dec. – mid-Jan., excluding holidays), 25 hours/week
Stipend: Unpaid. Free housing, and access to world renowned National Historic Landmark resort and nature preserve

- Special Project - Robert Wilson Archive - Paid Position
The Robert Wilson Archive is looking for someone to work on a special project. The ideal candidate would have a background in library science/archival studies and be able to commute daily to a storage facility located in the town of Bohemia, NY. The project involves re-boxing, shelving, and updating an inventory of about two-thirds of the Robert Wilson/Byrd Hoffman Watermill Foundation archive (approx. 500 linear feet) under the supervision of myself, the manager of the archive. Please let me know if you can think of any students who may be qualified and interested. It will be a paid position, contingent upon experience.
