The CUNY SPS Office of Institutional Research (OIR) collects, manages and organizes data to support the analytic, reporting and decision-making needs of the college through administration of surveys, institutional data and external sources of information.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Director of Institutional Research, the Research Assistant/College Assistant will:

• Assists in research activities (qualitative and/or quantitative)
• Compiles and analyzes quantitative data in numeric tables, charts, and graphs for reports
• Compiles and analyzes qualitative data from survey comments, focus group transcripts, and interview transcripts by coding data into themes
• Updates information and prepares data visualizations for dashboards
• Performs some administrative work (assists with materials for presentations and meetings)
• Other research and/or administrative duties, as assigned

Preferred Minimum:
• High school diploma/GED

Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree or some college course work from an accredited college or university
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
• Experience analyzing qualitative and quantitative data
• High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Ability to meet deadlines, handle multiple assignments simultaneously, and be flexible in an environment with changing priorities
• Some experience or interest in coding (SQL, Python, R, SPSS, SAS), dashboard software (Tableau, Power BI), and/or survey software (Qualtrics) is a plus

Salary: $20.00 – $22.00 per hour, commensurate with education and experience

Hours: 20 hours per week
